TBT with Shari T – Love Me Two Times

HI THERE & HAPPY THURSDAY!!  We’re in full blown Valentine’s inspiration mode at the Scrap’N Stamp Blog for today’s Throwback Thursday.  Here’s a today’s Throwback project from February 2, 2015–

DSC05995

I completely ran out of time to get this entered into the Compendium of Curiosities 3 #20 challenge, but I’m making it in the nick o’ time at Tag Along-Think Pink, Artist Trading Post Exchange-Flower Power & A Vintage Journey-Love is in the Air.

Although the challenge at AVJ is not music related, the challenge title “Love is in the Air” took me straight to a disco song from the 70’s, which got me running through my internal library of music, when the needle landed on “Love Me Two Times” by The Doors.  One of my favorite ways to create is by letting a song title or lyrics direct me and this song was perfect for my tag!!

DSC05965

I started with a jumbo #10 manila tag and stamped the heart from the Valentine Blueprint set onto the tag twice with Jet Black Archival ink.  See-there it is already…Love (me) two times!!  Get it?! LOL Oh, I crack myself up sometimes!! 🙂

DSC05966

I used Tim’s water coloring technique to color and shade the two hearts.  I used my detail water brush with Distress Markers in Barn Door on the top heart, and Worn Lipstick on the bottom heart.  I then shaded the hearts with Pumice Stone & Black Soot DMs using my wide tipped water brush and heat dried.

DSC05967

I added a bit more color to my tag using the wrinkle free Distress Stain technique with Worn Lipstick & Aged Mahagony DSs.  The color on the front of the tag is the left-over stain from running the backside of the tag through the stains first.

DSC05992

Here’s the back of the finished tag, which received those first few swipes through the stains-So much darker than the color on the front!

DSC05998

To finish my background, I rubbed Tea Dye & Vintage Photo DIs over the entire surface and edges.  Then I used my mini-Pumice Stone DI, my mini-ink blending tool and my Hearts LS to add a few random hearts here and there and used my air art tool to spritz Aged Mahogany DM over the tag.

DSC05977

I die cut  a bunch of Tattered Florals from pink, red & burgundy colored stock (and I had the tulle tattered florals in my stash).  I then stamped them with my ‘love’ definition &  harlequin background stamps, in Vermilion and Coffee Archival inks.  I spritzed them with water, wadded them up and let air dry.

DSC06004

I embellished my tag with the assembled Tattered Florals blooms, red rhinestones, a file tab and a couple of arrows from my Industrious Borders stickers.

DSC05997

I added colored gumdrops to the center of each flower and wrapped the blooms with pieces of some funky yarn from my stash–Oh, I also tucked some die cut Garden Greens in there that I had cut out of tissue wrap!

DSC05995

I added my word bands to my tag with matte gel and topped it all with a seam binding bow stained with Worn Lipstick & Barn Door DSs.

Love Me Two Times–I’m going away…..But only over to the challenges!!  I’m headed over to Tag Along, Artist Trading Post & A Vintage Journey before I lose any more time!!  Before we know it, February will be just a memory and Spring will be in the air!!

Thanks for stopping by!!  Until next time–Stay Artsy Fartsy!!

TBT with Shari T – Roses and Hearts Candle

HELLO THERE & HAPPY NEW YEAR!!  Thanks for joining me today as we continue the Throwback Thursday feature at the Scrap’N Stamp Blog!  As the ‘Season of Love’ is creeping into view, we’re going to share Love and Valentine’s themed projects for the next several TBTs to get ya’ll in the mood!!  Today, we’re going back to a project I created two years ago for the Eclectic Ellapu DT that I was on….

DSC05848

DSC05702

I gathered up my supplies that I’ll need for this project–let’s see, a 6″ pillar candle, some Distress Paints, some tissue paper & color Core’dinations stock, my Hearts layering stencil and my Tattered Pinecones die.

DSC05703

I stenciled pink & red hearts onto my tissue paper using little finger dabbers for each paint color.

DSC05742

I applied a light layer of matte gel to my candle and gently placed the tissue paper down and rolled the candle to let the tissue paper naturally fall onto the surface of the candle.  There were a few wrinkles, but I was able to smooth those down (for the most part) with an additional layer of matte gel brushed over the tissue paper.

DSC05826

I formed a bunch of paper roses with my Tattered Pinecone die and I’ve found a chipboard heart in my stash that I painted with a coat of gesso.

I applied a piece of stamped tissue paper to my gesso’d chipboard heart with matte gel and heat dried. Then I rubbed Worn Lipstick & Barn Door Distress Stains over the surface with my finger and heat dried, then I finished this heart with a layer of Clear Rock Candy Distress Crackle Paint, and let air dry.

DSC05837

Isn’t that crackly surface divine?  Before I adhered it to my candle, I rubbed Black Soot Distress Ink over the surface and edges to highlight those cracks!

I stamped the sentiment, from the TH/SA Simple Sayings set, onto tissue paper with Jet Black Archival ink and applied the ripped pieces to the candle with matte gel.

DSC05840

I wrapped the candle with some funky yarn, adhered the crackly heart with foam squares and hot glued the roses in place.  TA-DA!  That’s all she wrote!!  Pretty easy, right?  With just a few products and items, you can embellish a plain candle any way you need and you’ve got yourself a lovely new piece of home décor, or a unique gift to give.  Don’t be surprised if you see other seasonally decorated candles in the coming year! 🙂

Thanks so much for stopping by & Until next time–Stay Artsy Fartsy!!

TUESDAY WITH TARA {TAKE 79}

Happy New Year and Happy Tuesday!  I`m looking forward to a great new year full of creativity, and I hope you are too!

hello2017-2Hello 2017- You sparkle!  I had fun with this card, pulling out a Sizzix pop-up card die I`d never used before (although I`ve had it for several years!) and paired it with my big Tim Holtz Word Play alpha & number die.  I also found this gorgeous glitter paper in my stash and was delighted to find cardstock & ink (Distress Cracked Pistachio) that looked great along with it!  I wanted to design a card that was crisp & fresh like the new year, I hope you like how it turned out!

hello2017-3

The snowflakes are by Inkadinkado & Magenta & the sentiment is an oldie by Hero Arts.  I love taking older supplies from my stash to create something new… almost as much as I like adding something new to my stash 🙂 There`s some great deals in the store right now!

hello2017-4

My numbers pop with some offset layering onto white pearl cardstock, and this circle of mirror cardstock from another project adds a fun touch (pretty tricky to photograph though!).  I loved finding a Prima flower that coordinates perfectly with the other elements on my card.

hello2017-1

I had fun with my first card of 2017, and I`m looking forward to creating many more… and sharing them with you!  Thanks for stopping by!  Have a creative day,

Inky hugs,

Tara
