Toucan Paradise card featuring Concord& 9th

Tara’s Toucan of  My Appreciation card features  the Toucan Paradise stamp set from Concord & 9th.  Raya here sharing some oldie but goodies with you while Tara is on the move.  I think if I was moving my craft stuff is the last stuff I’d pack and the second I’d unpack. Kitchen first can’t unpack or craft without coffee!

Tara’s original post —

Happy Tuesday, and happy birthday to ME! I’m definitely feeling another year older this year, but every day I wake up is a gift I am grateful for! I want to take today to share a TOUCAN of my appreciation with you. Yep, I’ve got another card (actually TWO) featuring the fun Toucan Paradise stamp set by Concord &9th, together with Distress Oxide Inks.

I’m so grateful for each of you that visits the SNS blog every Tuesday to see what I’ve been up to! I’m making an effort to share more on Instagram and here on my personal blog this year. I’ll try to mix things up and keep the inspiration coming… so I hope you’ll check those out too! I’ll be having a little giveaway on my Instagram account, so come visit me, msespresso, there!

Card Elements

Today’s card has a lot of the same elements you might remember from the one I shared a couple weeks ago. This time I went with Abandoned Coral as my main accent colour. The rest of the colours are actually the same, isn’t it amazing how changing one colour can give it a much more feminine feel? I also added a few stripe details & the leaf outline in Pumice Stone, which really lightens things up! I love the addition of that pale grayish tone in the mix!

Simple Stamping

My second card was made ultra simple to coordinate with the first. It was inspired by a CAS (clean and simple) challenge on instagram to stamp ‘along the edge’ of your card. I’m loving the foliage in this Toucan Paradise stamp set, so I used just the leaves & flowers for this card. I’ve noticed that most cards people share as CAS are on a white base, but I think a kraft card can still look clean 🙂 This simple design will look great on white as well, so I’ll be duplicating it in the near future, I’m sure!

Thanks again for stopping by to see what I made! I hope you’ll look me up (msespresso) on instagram- follow me & leave a comment… perhaps I’ll be sending you some happy mail soon!

Inky hugs,

Tara

Rainbow Wishes

Hello all! Kia here with you today to share this card for the Random Act of Cardness “Rainbows”. Lately I have become addicted to Honey Bee stamps and dies, and this set is one of those sets I just had to have.

Below I will attach a list of the stamps and dies that I used for this project, as there are quite a few. The first thing I did was die cut the Rainbow Builder A2 card, then proceeded to stamp the pieces from the Rainbow Dreams set, where I used colours of the rainbow distress inks.

I then die cut the balance of the pieces, being the 2 piece sun set, the “Rainbow” sentiment along with the line sentiment and the clouds.

I used Copic markers on the suns rays, and on the top piece of the sun I used Squeezed Lemonade distress ink. I then attached the sun along with the Rainbow to my card base gluing them in place with Nuvo adhesive. I left the Rainbow in the thickness of the Hammermill cardstock, as it adds dimension to the card.

In my Misti I stamped the “Rainbow” and the sentiment sentence using VersaFine Clair ink in Tulip, and in Nocturne. For the clouds I brushed on distress oxide ink in Tumbled Glass, and attached the clouds to the card using foam strips.

I then added the sentiment pieces, again using foam strips. For the finishing I die cut the stars from white card and glued them to the card base using Nuvo adhesive.

I added Nuvo Midas Touch to the Stars, and Nuvo Aqua Shimmer Pen to the Clouds for a bit of sparkle. I wish it would show up better as it is very pretty.

SOME CHRISTMAS CHEER

Hi Friends! It’s Susan here with cards for today’s Random Acts of Cardness challenge. Today’s prompt is water. One of my favorite techniques is Ink Smooshing which you need water for so that’s what I did. I ink smooshed a larger piece of paper then turned it into 2 Christmas cards. If you haven’t heard of ink smooshing it’s so easy that I’m sure it you’ll love it.

There’s two ways that I do it. First one is to smoosh the ink pad onto my glass work surface, spritz it with some water then smoosh the paper into the wet ink. Don’t smoosh the whole paper into it – dab the paper into the ink in sections. Dry it with your heat gun, then repeat the process with another ink color. I did 5 colors on this one – it may not a traditional ink color combo but there is red and green in it so it works for me.

The other way that I like to do this technique is to use a piece of acetate. I smoosh my ink pad onto the acetate, spritz it with water and then instead of pouncing the paper into the ink I take the acetate sheet and dab it onto the paper. This way allows you to see exactly where and how much ink you’re adding.

When the panel was dry I cut 3 different sized circles to make ornaments with and one panel using a stitched rectangle die. The sentiments, stars and strings to hang the ornaments with on the card above are from Taylored Expressions Beautiful Baubles Add Ons Stamp Set. I embossed them with silver and gold because I couldn’t make up my mind on which one to use so I used them both.

For the card below I used the Full of Joy Stamp Set from Concord & 9th and again used both silver and gold to emboss the sentiment. I cut the panel with the second larges die in the Lawn Fawn Large Stitched Rectangle Die set.

I used a fine tip black marker to add some shadow to the embossing on both cards and I also used the Peaceful Poinsettia Embossing Folder from Taylored Epressions to emboss a piece of white card stock to add to both card bases before adding the ink smooshed pieces.

My favorite is the second one. Which one do you prefer?

Thanks for sharing part of your day with me 🙂

Take care,
Susan
