Some FURRY Tracey Hey Fun

Happy Friday! Here we are, the weekend before Valentines Day, so I suppose I could have gone with something mushy for today’s Random Acts of Cardness prompt, but instead I chose FURRY! Not that we aren’t mushy with our furry friends. 😉  I also wanted to break out another Tracey Hey stamp set, and remind you there is still time to visit and comment on our Wild ‘n Whimsy Inspiration Hop for your chance to win one of these sweet stamp sets! And with that… here is my card:

Isn’t this little pup a cutie? While personally I always choose red rubber boots 😀  I decided to give this guy bright yellow ones. He comes from the Hot Dog set, along with two other sweet wiener dogs and accompanying sentiments. I added clouds and a sentiment from an older Lawn Fawn set. The sky and ground are distress inks, with the help of a die cut mask for the grass. The card base is made from sour apple My Favorite Things cardstock.

If you are wondering about the sentiment, it continues on the inside, along with a sticker from my previous teaching life:

If your weekend includes some crafting time, perhaps you’ll consider joining the SnS challenge – one person will win a $50 gift code to the Scrap ‘n Stamp store!

Tuesday with Tara {take 327} Cup of Joy

Happy Tuesday!  Today’s card is Sending you a Cup of Christmas Joy for today’s Random Acts of Cardness theme, coffee.

I finally took some time to play with the new Villainous Potion Distress Inks this week and I challenged myself to use them for this theme!  I first got inky, creating some background paper with a mix of regular Distress & Oxide Inks. I splattered a bit of silver over it and also inked up some thin crinkle ribbon to match.  Love it!

I pulled out the Coffee Understands set by Picket Fence Studios and the Sending Christmas Joy die by MFT.  While I love this big sentiment, sometimes it’s a challenge fitting other images with it on a card.  I played around with my layout a bit and decided on a 5.5″ square card with the girl from the stamp set stamped beside it, since she’s almost as tall as the text.  The tall to-go cup is a great fit to sit over the open “O” in JOY.

I decided to pull it all together with some snowflakes on the background, using Distress Oxide ink through a snowflake stencil (by Paper Rose) which is really bold on the Kraft card base.  I layered it all together and decided to keep it simple and call it done!  The offset layers are a fun & different twist, but the ribbon seems to balance it all out.

And yep… my fingers are still inky!

Inky hugs,

Tara

Tuesday with Tara {take 318} Bookprint Hugs

Happy Tuesday!

We’re more than half way through September so I thought it was time to do a project that’s sorta back to school inspired… the theme over on the challenge blog is bookprint, and that’s what I’m featuring on the background of my card!  I did some autumn inspired ink blending over the Funky Leaves stencil by Picket Fence Studios- using shades of Distress Ink.  It’s a blend of Crushed Olive, Twisted Citron & Crackling Campfire.  Personally, I can’t wait to see the leaves changing all around me and this card just gives me a little hint of it.

I had some fun blending the same colors on a scrap of paper, from which I die cut the ‘hugs’ die by Honey Bee Stamps.  The ‘Bitty Buzzwords’ stamp & die sets is a recent splurge for me (I rarely buy the matching sets, normally pick one or the other) and so far I like it!  You see a bit of brown in my blend as well, since I didn’t get the tones I expected overlapping Crushed Olive & Cracking Campfire with each other.  I’ve been loving die cuts layered over vellum lately, so I was happy to find a small piece of vellum to work with here!

I finished off the card with a bit of twisted twine and some copper-toned sequins.  I stamped the rest of the sentiment on the same Kraft card base that I layered my bookprint onto.

I made a second very similar card, but it didn’t photograph well (something funky happened to my colors) but if you’d like to see it, feel free to check it out on my personal blog!

Inky hugs,

Tara
