Distress Oxide

Tuesday with Tara {take 330} Foxy Christmas

Happy Tuesday!

Today’s post is going to be short and sweet… kinda like the process of making this card!  It’s a pretty quick & easy card that is great for some last minute cards.  I really wanted to demo it for you with a video, but we’ve had new flooring installed this week and are living in chaos right now, so I’m afraid that didn’t happen!

I did use a new stamp though, the sweet Foxy Christmas set by Woodware Stamps over a soft ombre of Distress Oxide Inks.

Instead of using a background stamp, like I did in the tutorial, which you can see on my original post from back in 2016 on my blog,  I stamped the Merry Christmas sentiment (this is an OLD Stampendous wooden stamp) repeatedly in the mid-tone ink.

Hope you like my ‘torn’ inspiration!  Have a Merry Christmas & a foxy celebration!

Inky hugs,

Tara

Let It Snow?

And just like that, it’s Friday again! Hope everyone is doing well, especially if you’ve been affected by the horrible weather events in BC.

I don’t know about you, but I’m just as happy when snow stays away for as long as possible. 😉  But that doesn’t mean I can’t put a little of the white stuff on a card for today’s Random Acts of Cardness challenge prompt, SNOW!

It’s a bonus when I can manage to make a cute card with just a little bit of sass! That penguin seems made for pitching snowballs, and I suppose it’s one way to get his little reindeer to pull the sled. The background is made with mermaid lagoon distress oxide ink blended on white cardstock, and then splattered with water. A few of my splats are larger than ideal, but oh well. 😀  The snow is made using a fun new product, snowfall distress grit-paste! It’s added to a separate piece of watercolour paper so it wouldn’t pick up any of the oxide colour. My critters, sled and snowballs are all from Lawn Fawn’s Toboggan Together, and the sentiment from Tiny Tag Sayings. The panel and sentiment dies are older My Favorite Things dies from my stash.

I hope my little snowy scene has inspired you to play along on the Scrap ‘n Stamp Random Acts of Cardness Facebook group! And stay tuned this weekend for the winner announcement for the Let It Snow Inspiration Hop!

Have a FaBOOlous Day

Wow, it’s the last week of October already! That means it’s time to finish off any Halloween prep you might need to do, you know, like buying your favourite Halloween treats. 😉  And if you like to send Halloween cards, it’s time to get them in the mail! I’m here with possibly the least spooky card you can imagine, for today’s Random Acts of Cardness prompt, BOO.

These little ghosties from Lawn Fawn’s Booyah stamps and dies are so sweet! I stamped a few, mixing up the shapes and faces, then picked two that seemed to get along well together for the “O”s in my BOO. I added a bow tie to one, and a sparkly flower to the other. And let me tell you about my background! I was using distress oxides for a different card background, and had been brushing the excess off on the back of a Scrap ‘n Stamp postcard from an order. As I was cleaning up, I realized I had the start of a spooky sky! I used mermaid lagoon, faded jeans and wilted violet for the background. My large “B” is from Concord & 9th’s Tall Type Alphabet. The secondary banner sentiment is from another fun Lawn Fawn set, Tiny Halloween. I tried different ways of mounting my panel onto the card base – directly onto a white card base, a black mat on a white base, but decided I liked this one, directly onto a black card base, best.

If I knew anyone getting married on Halloween, wouldn’t this be a fun wedding card? 😀  Thanks for checking in today – hope your week’s off to a faBOOlous start!
