Some FURRY Tracey Hey Fun

Happy Friday! Here we are, the weekend before Valentines Day, so I suppose I could have gone with something mushy for today’s Random Acts of Cardness prompt, but instead I chose FURRY! Not that we aren’t mushy with our furry friends. 😉  I also wanted to break out another Tracey Hey stamp set, and remind you there is still time to visit and comment on our Wild ‘n Whimsy Inspiration Hop for your chance to win one of these sweet stamp sets! And with that… here is my card:

Isn’t this little pup a cutie? While personally I always choose red rubber boots 😀  I decided to give this guy bright yellow ones. He comes from the Hot Dog set, along with two other sweet wiener dogs and accompanying sentiments. I added clouds and a sentiment from an older Lawn Fawn set. The sky and ground are distress inks, with the help of a die cut mask for the grass. The card base is made from sour apple My Favorite Things cardstock.

If you are wondering about the sentiment, it continues on the inside, along with a sticker from my previous teaching life:

If your weekend includes some crafting time, perhaps you’ll consider joining the SnS challenge – one person will win a $50 gift code to the Scrap ‘n Stamp store!

Dreaming of a Summer Scene…

Crazy but true, it’s the last day of January! That means it’s the last day to participate in this month’s Random Acts of Cardness Challenge – and I’m here today with a little inspiration for the prompt, SCENE. Where I am it’s still the depths of winter, but I can still dream, right?

Sand, surf, blue skies, a tropical drink – I like this dream scene! 😉  It’s made using On the Beach stamps and dies from Lawn Fawn. All the elements are coloured with Copic markers. Did you know that Scrap ‘n Stamp now carries MFT cardstock? I used Caribbean Sea for… the sea. The sky is blended with tumbled glass distress oxide ink, and the sand with antique linen stippled with a little gathered twigs.

My favourite part of this stamp set? The tiki drink is as big as the bear’s head. 😀

Don’t forget to play along with the Random Acts of Cardness challenge for your chance to win a $50 gift credit!

A Whittle Winter Snowman

Happy Friday! One week today… Christmas Eve! Are you ready? I’ve got a card for today’s Random Acts of Cardness prompt, WINTER – and apart from a little drying time, it was quick and easy to make, perfect for this time of year.

This card also gave me a chance to use three new-to-me supplies – the Photoplay falling snow coverplate for my background, my whittle friendly snowman die and distress mica spray for the scarf and hat band. For my winter sky, I tried a technique Jennifer McGuire recently showcased. On Yupo paper, I added a generous amount of blender solution before adding blue alcohol pearl ink, and then smooshed a second sheet of Yupo paper on top. This definitely solves my tendency to add too much ink! I like the wind-blown look the smooshing added, as well.

For my whittle snowman (who is obviously not so “whittle’), I cut his head and body out of white cardstock, his hat and eyes from a scrap of black and his nose from an orange scrap. The hat band and scarf are from a scrap of white that I sprayed with holly branch mica spray – I’m impressed with how evenly it coats the paper and leaves a velvety shimmer. The sentiment is from a Lawn Fawn tag set – I chose it as it fit perfectly on a circle the same size as my snowman’s head. 😀   It’s popped up on a circle of fun foam for a little dimension.

If you make a wintry card, I hope you’ll link it up for a chance to win a $50 gift certificate to the store! Have a great weekend.
