Tuesday with Tara {take 351} painted birds

Happy Tuesday, friends!

I used some of the leftover painted birds from my art journal page for the inspiration hop (which there is still plenty of time to participate in!  See all the details & start here) as my starting point for this card, since I was going with paint as my inspiration word!  I found this pretty daisy paper in a 6×8″ paper pad by Vicki Boutin and selected the rest of my color palette from there.

I decided to add texture with a layer of corrugated Cardstock on my card base, but since the color wasn’t quite right I added more paint- covering up most of it with Speckled Egg Distress Paint.  I left a rough edge with dryer brushtrokes to add dimension and then splattered Cheddar & White gloss sprays across it.

The floral tiles are cut from Tim Holtz’s stacked hexagons, which I placed staggered across the panel.  As finishing touches, I added some more yellow with twine to hang a word charm and a die cut word by Honeybee.

The birds were cut from a card stock panel I painted with a mix of lemon & cheddar Dina Wakley paints.

Hope you like it!

Inky (painty) hugs,

Tara

Tuesday with Tara {take 438} Hello Friend

Happy Tuesday and Hello friends!  Today’s card is a throwback that has me ready to CASE my own design and make something new… hope it brings you some inspiration as well!

Today’s card uses a fun combo of products to make a sweet and simple card… florals by Hampton Art Stamps (Hello Beautiful set), Hello There from Bold Text #1 dies by Tim Holtz and the little sweet friend is from Honey Bee Stamps Bitty Buzzwords.  Of course, I’m still playing around with my new Distress color, so today you see a simple color combo of Distress Oxide Inks- Saltwater Taffy and Twisted Citron.

Of course, there’s more fun details like the stitched border (love this nesting set by Prism Studio) , 3D foam squares and some lime sequins by Studio Katia!  I wish I could tell you where the pink card base came from, but I’m pretty impressed how well it matched the Saltwater Taffy Distress Oxide ink! (I think the Azalea card stock by Prism Studio is very close)

I’m pretty pleased with this card… really want to play around with other sentiments from the die set in combo with stamped greetings!  Hope you like it too 🙂

Inky hugs,

Tara

Tuesday with Tara {take 400} Some Faves!

Happy Tuesday!  Today as I was getting ready to share a new card, I realized that I’ve reached another milestone- 400 Tuesday with Tara blog posts here on Scrap ‘N Stamp!    As I’ve done previously when I hit these milestones, I like to reflect back on the last 100 posts and share a few of my favorites with you!  These 100 posts take us back a little over 2 years, and while there haven’t been quite 100 new cards in that time, there’s plenty to choose from!   If you click on the title for each image it’ll take you back to my original blog post.  Enjoy!

hey patina

This one had such a fun patina background and I just had fun with the sentiment & images as well!

Mod Cactus

I shared two fun cards with these Mod Cactus stamps in this post- the designs are simple, but super fun with these great stamps!

Coffee Obsessed

I love coffee themed stamps- and cards, of course!  Anita Jeram’s designs have become some of my favorites, as well!

Painted Birds

I think this was the first of many projects I’ve shared (and still do!) featuring the bird silhouette dies by Tim Holtz.  Love them!

Crackle Fun

These cards are just fun- the mini slimline size, the bright colors and the fun crackle texture!

Coffee, Craft, Repeat

This one is pretty recent, but it makes me smile.  I made it in two fun color schemes, but am sharing this one because I noticed a pattern among my choices.  LOL.

I’m sure I could share so many more (and I’ve got a list started of favorite Christmas projects to share!) but I hope it gives you a peek at the variety of cards I’ve been sharing on my Tuesday posts!  Thanks for joining me on the journey!

Inky hugs,

Tara

Tuesday with Tara {take 355} Thankful Cacti

Happy Tuesday!  I’m so thankful you’re here on this Tuesday afternoon!

If you caught the fun “For The Boys” inspiration hop over the weekend, this card will definitely
have some familiar elements to it! (and if you didn’t catch it… it’s not too late!) I’m once again using the Mod Cactus Stamp Set by Tim Holtz paired with a simple palette of Distress Oxide Ink on a Kraft background, this time with a bit more whimsy.
The cacti were stamped the same as on my other card, inked with Twisted Citron Ink & the pots with Wild Honey.  I mixed things up and added some circular die cuts and a tag for the sentiment, then layered it all over a stenciled background- Frayed Burlap Distress Oxide Ink Spray through a fun Vicki Boutin stencil!

It’s as simple as that!   Hope you like it!  If you missed my other card that uses a lot of the same supplies, you can see it on my Instagram or watch for it on my blog in the next few days.

Inky hugs,

Tara

Tuesday with Tara {take 345} Blessed & Bling

Happy Tuesday!  My inspiration for today’s card is the word for Day 30 on our Facebook Challenge group– Bling! I’m trying to slip creatively into spring mode, so I played with a few shades of Distress Oxide Ink for a fun splattered background with ink blending.  I then die cut some assorted sizes of the Tim Holtz Stacked Hexagons and played around with a layout for them on a mini slim (3.5×6″) panel I had cut out.

For the BLING- I used a glittery die cut word ‘blessed’ that I had leftover from one of my cards from earlier this month.  I wanted to use some tiny paper flowers I had, some of which have glittery petals, so I added some gold to their centers to tie it all together.  I trimmed white pearly card stock to layer onto my card base and finished everything off with some gold toned bling!  I know at a glance this is not a seriously blingy card, but trust me- the elements are all there 🙂

I love the soft looks you get ink blending with Distress Oxide Inks, even using vibrant colors!  It’s perfect for spring and all those little speckles have me craving Robin’s Eggs Candy!  Yum…

Hope you like my simple, blingy card!

Inky hugs,

Tara

Tuesday with Tara {take 301} hey patina…

hey… have you gotten your hands on any of the new Salvaged Patina Distress Ink products yet?  I splurged on the full bundle, (highly recommend!) but have barely had much of a chance to play yet.  I found a few minutes though, and decided to try creating some backgrounds with an authentic patina look.

I worked with Distress Spray Stain for these cards, and worked on the Distress Mixed Media Heavystock since I knew things were going to get wet!  I decided to pair Salvaged Patina with the Crackling Campfire Spray Stain to bring out the coppery tones of a patina.  I was very impressed how easily I got this look with just these two colors!  I sprayed fairly heavily on one piece, then lifted it up at an angle to allow the colors to blend into each other a bit more.  I then set it back down and smooshed another piece of heavystock into it to pick up some of the excess ink.  I dabbed both pieces in the excess that was on my Kraft sheet and set the first aside to dry.  Since the second was quite a bit paler, I sprayed a bit more Salvaged Patina directly on it and then added some splatters of both colors.

My first background was nice & grungy looking, so while it was still slightly damp I decided to emboss it with the Typewriter 3D embossing folder.  I rubbed some black ink directly onto the raised surface and added a bit more around the edges for depth, then trimmed and turned it into a card front.  Love it!  I’ll share a closer look at that one later when I finally finish it up!

The lighter background gave me more of a blank canvas, fun for adding stamps & die cuts!  I chose this big HEY die by MFT and one of the Snarky Cat stamps together with a ‘hold on tight’ sentiment, since this guy was stamped to look like he’s definitely holding on tight.  It’s really a super simple card, but I didn’t want to take away from the background.

I finished it off with a few iridescent crystals by Studio Katia.  I’m not sure the card really needed it, but I wanted to try out my new triangle tray and embellishment wand.  LOL.  A little bling never hurts, right!?

I’m looking forward to some more time to play with my new Salvaged Patina inks in the future, so don’t be surprised if you see a lot of it on upcoming Tuesdays!

Inky hugs,

Tara

Tuesday with Tara {take 239} Good Cluck!

Happy Tuesday & Happy St Patrick’s Day!  With everything going on in the world right now, I thought it’d be fun to throwback to a punny card I made last year that just happens to be GREEN 🙂 I hope it brings a smile to your day!

For my card today, I was excited to play with the new Funny Farm set from Tim Holtz, together with Media Marks.

I created a background with Distress Oxide Inks in Twisted Citron, Lucky Clover & Peacock Feathers and set that aside to dry.  I stamped the ‘good cluck’ chicken on a white die cut circle and colored it with Watercolor Pencils & a bit of Distress Oxide that was leftover on my work surface from the background.

I had a variety of circles pre-cut, and played around with a layout for my card, finally deciding to scatter some smaller circles which I would stamp with the eggs from the chicken stamp and some of the markings in the same colors as my background.  I die cut the word ‘cluck’ from white cardstock (this is a Tim Holtz strip die called Chip Block) and inked up the word ‘good’ from the sentiment on Dina’s new flower set.  I decided that glitter would be a nice finishing touch and added a variety of Nuvo Drops to my word and the eggs in my images.

Greens and blues are faves of mine… so I decided to do sort of an ombré glitter 🙂

And that’s about it!  There’s some great images and puns in this stamp set, I’m still having fun with them a year later!   I’ll be back next Tuesday with a new card 😉

inky hugs,

Tara

Tuesday with Tara {take 207}

Happy Tuesday! I hope you enjoyed your Canada Day holiday and summer 2019 is off to a fabulous start! I found a few minutes to make some quick cards with the adorable mini ‘stuck on you’ stamp set by Flora & Fauna. Hope you like how they came together!

I applied Distress Oxide ink (Twisted Citron & Cracked Pistachio) with an ink blending tool through Dina Wakley’s Big Squovals stencil as a background for both of my cards- it gives a bold focal point and just happens to be the perfect size for these mini images. As both my cards are on colored cardstock, Distress Oxide is the perfect, opaque medium for ink blending. After my backgrounds were inked, I simply stamped the images in Versafine Clair Nocturne Ink.

For this first card, I went a bit punny, adding a die cut sentiment that says ‘aloe’ 🙂 The whimsical lettering style from Tim Holtz’s alphanumeric cutout dies seems to suit these images really well!

For the second card, I used a simple ‘miss you’ die cut sentiment by MFT, combined with the ‘stuck on you’ from this set. Both cards are simple, fun designs that came together quickly. Gotta love that! I think I’ll have some fun with this little stamp set 🙂

Inky hugs,

Tara

Tuesday with Tara {take 192}

Happy Tuesday!  Have you been loving the great projects the team created for our blog hop? I hope so… there’s still plenty of time to play along with us!

Today I’ve got another card for you I created with the new “Funny Farm” stamp set by Tim Holtz together with the “Media Marks” set.  After I created my project for the ‘This Puns for You” Blog hop, I kept going, creating a similar inky background and this is what I ended up with 🙂  Like my first card, my background features Twisted Citron, Lucky Clover & Peacock Feathers Distress Oxide Inks.  I love this sketchy scallops design in the Media Marks set, especially since it seemed to mimic the curls on this sweet little sheep!

I kept this card super simple- just my background and the image on a die cut stitched circle and some simple coloring with watercolor pencils.  For texture, I layered it on a piece of corrugated cardstock from my stash with some yummy crinkle ribbon (which I dyed with Distress Ink) wrapped around it.  Sweet & Simple and I kinda love it… hope you do too!

Thanks for visiting!

Inky hugs,

Tara
